Our approach to aged care is about building relationships and creating the best environment for physical and emotional well-being. We work together as equals for residential aged care services to ensure all your needs are met.

Most of our residential aged care Melbourne homes have fewer beds, so we can get to know all our residents personally. This creates a homelike and welcoming atmosphere, centring your care around your unique needs and preferences.

  • All nursing and care team staff hold full registrations and qualifications
  • Catering staff and housekeeping are all qualified with relevant industry certificates\

At MACG, we are committed to the ongoing education and development of all our staff. Improving our team is pivotal in our homes' quality of care and service.

What are your staffing ratios?

Staff ratios vary within each home and we monitor the needs of residents and staff on an ongoing basis to make any required changes. For more information about staffing ratios for a particular home, please get in touch with our team.

How will you make sure my family member will be safe?

As a leading aged care provider, we have an obligation to act reasonably in providing a safe and secure environment for our residents. We do this through regular environmental audits and risk assessments to ensure all residents can live safely.

We are always aware of who enters our homes with keypad entry and exits and CCTV throughout common areas in our homes. Call bell systems allow residents to contact staff from anywhere within the home, with sensor mats and door sensors for extra support when required.

What is the difference between a nursing home and an aged care facility?

A residential aged care facility typically provides various services, including 24/7 nursing care, support with daily activities, and specialised care like respite care. A nursing home is often used interchangeably with aged care facilities, but the services and support offered are tailored to the individual needs of aged care residents.

Why do people go into residential aged care?

People move into residential aged care when they require ongoing support with daily activities, such as personal or medical care, that can no longer be managed at home. Residential aged care provides a safe and supportive environment, allowing family members peace of mind knowing that their loved ones are receiving quality care in a professional setting.

What does permanent residential care mean?

Permanent residential care refers to long-term care in an aged care facility where residents live full-time and receive assistance with daily activities. It ensures residents access various services, including meals, medical care, and social activities, in a comfortable environment with modern facilities like a private dining room for family visits.

Does the Australian government pay for aged care?

Yes, the Australian government subsidises the cost of aged care for eligible individuals. This funding helps cover both permanent and respite care in registered aged care facilities, though family members may still need to contribute to additional services.

What is the difference between high care and low care in aged care?

High care is for aged care residents who require more intensive personal care and medical support, while low care is for individuals who need assistance but maintain independence. Both levels of care are available in our residential aged care facilities.
