Oaklea Hall’s Contribution To The Community

Thursday afternoons staff and residents travel by taxi to volunteer their services to the local parish in Glenhuntly (St Anthony’s) to peel and prepare vegetables to feed the homeless and under privileged.

The residents are full of excitement each time we go and try and guess whether it will be carrots or potatoes that they will be peeling.

We are met by supervisor Vince, whose wife recently had a happy and healthy baby boy. We handed gifts of congratulations as we spied gorgeous photos of a beautiful bouncing baby boy.

Vince and his volunteers are always happy to see us to make their workload easier as we are able to peel several buckets to make our contributions to the community.

We are always well looked after with coffee and cake after we have finished and a chat with another volunteer, Gwen about our day and events happening in the future.
